Darren Shaun Donovan

Darren started out as a Safari guide in the Sabi Sands, and rose through the ranks in the guiding industry. His 3 passions were photography, birds and animal behaviour. Darren tries to tell the stories that Africa has to tell, as well as her ever changing moods, through his lens. He enjoys working with beginner and intermediate photographers and tries to guide them to anticipate those breathtaking split second moments that makes Wildlife photography so worthwhile.

Janet Kleyn

Janet is a professional wildlife photographer and qualified nature and trails guide. She joined the C4 team in 2017 as manager of the photographic concession at Mashatu Game Reserve in the Northern Tuli block of Botswana. There she spent six years as our “hide” lady, accompanying guests to the photographic hides as well as on the photo vehicle. In this role she shared her expert advice, tuition and tips to help her clients take their photography to the next level. Janet prides herself on her client focus and making the best possible experience for each individual. Janet’s skill was much in demand, with guests from around the world requesting her as a private tutor and guide. Her calm demeanour and wonderful nature with her guests meant that Janet was always held in high esteem by guests and staff alike. Janet has an in-depth understanding of clients’ needs and expectations. It is with this knowledge, combined with her excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, that she now leads our team to ensure your photographic safari is meticulously planned and not only meets, but exceeds your expectations.

Aubrey Tseleng

Aubrey is the resident photographer at Mashatu and spends his time accompanying and tutoring photographers from either our hide or the photographic vehicle. Aubrey is a qualified teacher of Art and completed his BA in fine arts, majoring in photography. His experience as a teacher makes him accessible to photographers of all levels, while he has any eye for a considered composition.

Shem Compion

Webinar host Shem Compion is a renowned wildlife and nature photographer, filmmaker, and author based in South Africa. With over two decades of experience in the field, Shem has built a reputation as one of the leading wildlife photographers in the world. He has published several books on wildlife photography, including "The African Photographic Safari Handbook" and "The Art of Wildlife Photography." Shem collaborated with Mark documenting the unique culture and language of the Suri people. One result of that collaboration is the short film “The Eloquent Suri of Ethiopia”.

Isak Pretorius
